Something weird happened
We watched the soccer. Coz Matildas.
So great, the soccer! It was fun, and the team was inclusive, full of mums and queer people and different nationalities, and each game opened with songs of the world’s oldest cultures.
But then something even weirder happened. The world moved a tiny bit closer to wonderful.
History books remember Napoleons and define eras by wars and kings. But who really makes history?

Federation University to perform A Girl’s Guide
A Girl’s Guide to Dancing!
As die-hard musical theatre nerds, we choreography. And although “A Girl’s Guide to World War” is not a jazz-handsy musical (not that there’s ANYTHING wrong with that ), we’ve longed to bring movement into our show.
And sooooooo ….
We’re beyond thrilled to announce we’ve received Regional Arts Development Funding to work with renowned choreographer and dancer Fiona Jopp (pictured) who will bring deeper meaning through movement to our touring production.
Thank you Arts Queensland and Sunshine Coast Council for this fabulous funding!
Ready? And … five, six, seven, eight!

Who wants to be a producer!
Musical Theatre Australia founders, Katy Forde and Aleathea Monsour, receive funding to hone their skills as producers
If you’re an indie theatre maker, you’ll know that the producer’s hat is one that you learn to wear ‘on the job’. You do it because you have to do it. But how do you take your producing skills to the next level? How do you learn to wear that oh-so-tricky hat with confidence and flair?
Musical Theatre Australia founders Katy Forde and Aleathea Monsour are about to find out!
Thanks to the Sunshine Coast Regional Arts Development Funding (RADF) and Arts Queensland, Katy and Aleathea are setting sail on a exciting four-month mentorship with Melbourne-based Executive Producer Laura Milke-Garner.
Laura’s experience as a producer is epic! She has developed and produced work for Sydney Opera House, Brisbane Powerhouse, Melbourne Theatre Company, Sydney Festival, Darwin Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Venice Biennale, Brisbane Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Melbourne International Arts Festival, The Arts Centre, Melbourne Fringe Festival, La Mama and the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
As Katy and Aleathea’s mentor, Laura will help them design and budget for a viable tour, approach festivals and venues at a state and national level, and create a strategic plan to produce work over the decades to come.
